Empowering Communities. Enabling Change.

Dumdum Nakshatra Welfare Society is a registered non-profit, community-driven organization based in Dumdum, West Bengal, with a focused mission to uplift and empower underprivileged families through targeted, impactful, and sustainable social programs.

As a grassroots NGO, our efforts are deeply rooted in the real and pressing needs of the communities we serve. We work directly with marginalized children and families in urban slums, rural belts, and underserved neighborhoods to ensure that healthcare, education, and literacy are not luxuries but accessible rights for all.

We operate with transparency, empathy, and a deep commitment to social equity, mobilizing volunteers, educators, health professionals, and local stakeholders to make a lasting difference. Dumdum Nakshatra Welfare Society is not just a charitable initiative — it is a movement to restore dignity, opportunity, and hope to those who need it most.

Whether it is a child receiving its first textbook, a mother learning to sign her name, or a young boy getting treated for a illness — we believe that every small act can light a path toward a better tomorrow.

Dumdum Nakshatra Welfare Society is approved under Section 80G(5)(vi) of Income Tax Act, 1961. It is also registered under "NGO Darpan", the National Government Service Portal.

What we do

At Dumdum Nakshatra Welfare Society, we are dedicated to transforming lives in underprivileged communities through our three core areas of impact:

Child Healthcare

Child Education

Adult Literacy

We provide regular health camps, medical assistance, and nutritional support for children from underserved communities to ensure they grow healthy and thrive.

We support the holistic development of children by offering access to quality education, free tuition, and learning materials to help them reach their full potential.

We educate adults—especially parents and women—to empower families to make informed decisions, support their children’s education, and uplift their communities.

Our Mission

To uplift underprivileged communities by ensuring that every child has access to healthcare and education, and every adult has the opportunity to become literate and empowered.

We strive to break the cycle of poverty through a holistic, community-centered approach that starts with the child and extends to the family and the entire neighborhood. Our mission is to create a healthier, more educated, and self-reliant society — one family at a time.

Our Vision

To build a future where every child grows up healthy and educated, supported by literate, empowered adults — creating strong families and stronger communities.

We envision a world where no child suffers from preventable illness, no student drops out due to lack of resources, and no adult is held back by illiteracy. A world where education and wellness are not privileges — but basic rights accessible to all.

Dumdum Nakshatra is also registered with NITI Aayog's Darpan portal with Unique ID of WB/2024/0477286. The NGO-Darpan started out as an initiative of the Prime Minister's Office, to bring about a greater partnership & voluntary sector and foster better transparency, efficiency and accountability.
